Illustrated hand
The purpose of this hand exercise was to learn to use the darkest value of a pencil to create depth and form for an object.
Pen and Ink Practice
The following was shading practice with pen and ink. This was to help us learn different techniques to create shape and form using pen. Overall this helped develop control over pen and ink.
Illustrated Characters
This is an caricature of Walt Disney. In this assignment we had to choose one person whom we could enlarge certain features, and then pen in details.
Here is a super hero that we had to also create. I created the Recycler, who spends his time going around planting trees and cleaning the planet. This assignment was to help us understand how shading can help show definition of muscles, and also teach some anatomy.
In this illustration we had to create a character and put them in a setting. Here I created a strawberry father and daughter trapped in the fridge with other fruit that had been infected by something. The purpose for this was to teach us how to use middle ground, foreground and background.
This was our political cartoon in which we took a current issue or something we felt strongly about and make it in to a cartoon story board. This can show us how to work with characters given dialogue and actions.
Block Print
This was a block print used with a block carving of our initials. This was to let us use some color and learn print making in case that was a style that we may want to look to in the future.
